How do you get to Kekova from Fethiye?
There is no road to Kekova and no boat from Fethiye that goes there. You drive to a harbour — Üçağız at 137 km or Çayağzı (Demre) at 152 km — and board a boat. Allow about three hours each way, which makes Kekova a long day out from Fethiye but a possible one.
No boat runs from Fethiye to Kekova
Fethiye has plenty of boat trips — the Twelve Islands, Ölüdeniz, Butterfly Valley — and none of them goes to Kekova. There is roughly a hundred and fifty kilometres of coast in between, which is well beyond what a day boat can cover.
There is no road to Kekova either. Kekova is an island area; nothing reaches it by land — no road, no bridge, no scheduled ferry.
So getting to Kekova from Fethiye means one thing: drive to a harbour and get on a boat there.
Which harbour
Two of them serve Kekova. Distances measured against OpenStreetMap routing data on 2026-08-20:
| From | Üçağız harbour | Çayağzı (Demre) harbour |
|---|---|---|
| Fethiye | 137 km | 152 km |
| Dalaman Airport | 185 km | 199 km |
It is the D400 coast road the whole way. The stretch between Kalkan and Kaş is the twistiest part, and it is where map estimates stop matching the road.
How long it really takes
Routing services put Fethiye to Çayağzı at 2 hours 20 minutes. But the same service says 67 minutes for Kalkan to Çayağzı, and the guests who actually drive that road tell us an hour and a half. That is about a third more.
Apply the same margin here and Fethiye comes out at roughly three hours — one way, without stopping, without traffic.
Which gives you this day:
- ~06:30 — leave Fethiye
- 09:45 — at the harbour
- 10:00 – 17:00 — on the water
- ~20:00 — back in Fethiye
Honest advice
Kekova can be done as a day trip from Fethiye, but it is a fourteen-hour day with six of them behind the wheel. Two things worth weighing first:
Stay a night. One night in Demre, Kaş or Kalkan cuts the day in half. From Kaş the harbour is forty-five minutes; from Kalkan an hour and a half.
If you are flying into Dalaman, choose your base before you unpack. The airport is further from Kekova than Fethiye is — 199 km. Driving straight to Kaş or Demre on arrival is shorter than settling in Fethiye and coming back down.
If you would still rather come from Fethiye, that is fine — guests do. Just set off early and count the drive home into the day.
In short
- No boat from Fethiye to Kekova. Drive to a harbour, board there.
- Üçağız 137 km, Çayağzı 152 km. Around three hours each way.
- A day trip is possible but long. A night somewhere closer makes it a markedly easier day.
We sail from Çayağzı Yacht Harbour. The road, the parking and the meeting point are on the Kekova boat tour from Kaş and Kalkan page, whose corridor list includes Fethiye and Dalaman too.
